"Beautifully crafted garden tools, sturdy in the hand, and hefty enough to get the job done well. Just the sight of them makes you want to get out and dig." -Alison W.
I build this sturdy weeding hoe with reaching into raised beds in mind. The natural finished Shagbark Hickory handle is 15″ long (overall tool length is 22″). The combination of strength, toughness, and hardness found in Hickory is found in no other commercial wood and is why it is prized as a great material for tool handles. I forge each tool by hand and finish the wood handle with the bark on. The wood handle is slotted and the tool is inset into the slot then riveted all the way through with brass rivets. The subtle patina and extra loop in the stem give this tool a great balance and modern flair.
Our classic heirloom quality tools riveted by hand and joined to natural finished Shagbark Hickory handles creates this newest collection of “Shaggy Bark” tools from Fisher Blacksmithing. In making these tools, I've used stout twigs of the Shagbark Hickory tree (a member of the Walnut family). Dig deeper, reach wider and really get down in the garden! Enjoy the rustic aesthetics and utility of a one of a kind creation made just for you, a gardener and lover of fine things.
